How to Fill a Crack in a Bouncy Ball

Bouncy balls that get a lot of use by kids or pets are often subjected to more wear and tear than other toys. However, bouncy balls don't often have a great deal of intrinsic or sentimental value so people are likely to discard them when they develop cracks or fissures. Cracks are so easy to fix, however, that it doesn't make sense to throw them away when they are damaged.

Instructions

    • 1

Mix some silicone elastomer curing agent with silicone elastomer base in a disposable plastic container according to the specifications of the manufacturer.

    • 2

Stir the mixture thoroughly using a toothpick.

    • 3

Insert the liquid silicone mixture into the crack of the bouncy ball carefully, avoiding bubbles or trapped air. You can use the same toothpick to insert the liquid into the crack that you used for stirring the silicone mix.

    • 4

Cover the liquid-filled crack in the ball with a piece of clear tape.

    • 5

Place the ball in a toaster oven for four hours at 140 degrees Fahrenheit to cure the silicone.

    • 6

Remove the ball from the oven. Trim away any excess silicone with a razor blade.
