Contact a children's organization that specializes in collecting toys for disadvantaged or sick children. Find out where to drop toys off and get specific information about what types of toys can be accepted and which ones are unable to be donated due to safety or health concerns. Some places to donate include children's hospitals, consignment shops or organizations that focus specifically on giving toys during holidays to less fortunate children.
Ask friends or family members if their children could use any of your children's old toys. They will appreciate the gesture, especially if their child has been eyeing a specific toy for awhile. Spread the gesture to as many people as possible by offering two or three toys to one family and two or three to another until you've offered everyone at least one thing.
Involve your grown children in the giving process. Ask her where she prefers to see her toys go and encourage her to deliver them herself so she can see the joy she brings to another child.
Wash the toys with antibacterial soap and water before giving them to anyone to disinfect them. Throw away toys that have any sharp edges, broken or missing parts. Don't away give the toy if you wouldn't want your child to receive it.
