How to Build a LEGO Slide

Adults and children alike enjoy expressing their creativity through building structures and engineering objects out of LEGO toy blocks. These interlocking blocks come in a multitude of shapes and sizes and can be purchased individually through LEGO or retailers, or as part of kits that contain all the pieces needed to create a particular item. A LEGO slide can be created from a few basic pieces and used to slide miniature LEGO figurines down as part of a playground, LEGO school building or park.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach one of the 1-by-2 blocks to the far middle left column of the 8-by-16 baseboard. Stick two 1-by-1 hinged blocks on top of the 1-by-2 block.

    • 2

Construct the slide by centering two 1-by-8 smooth, flat blocks and two 1-by-4 smooth, flat blocks in the center two rows of a 4-by-12 block. Fill in the remaining rows of the 4-by-12 with two 1-by-6 blocks, one 1-by-4 block and one 1-by-8 block. Add two 1-by-6 smooth flat blocks, one 1-by-8 smooth, flat block and one 1-by-4 smooth, flat block to the blocks you just placed to form the raised, smooth sides of the slide.

    • 3

Flip the slide over so that it is upside down. Attach a 2-by-10 block to the bottom middle of the 4-by-12 block that forms the base of the slide. Connect two 1-by-2 hinged blocks together at their hinges and connect one of them to the right end of the bottom of the 4-by-12 block, next to the 2-by-10 block. Attach the remaining 1-by-2 hinged block to the other end of the 2-by-10, with the hinge facing out. Connect one flat circle disc to the far left side of the bottom of the 2-by-10 next to the single hinge block. Attach the other flat circle disc to the far right side of the bottom of the 2-by-10.

    • 4

Snap the remaining 1-by-2 block onto the bottom of the double hinge piece on the right side of the bottom of the 2-by-10. Flip the slide back over so it is facing right-side up. Connect a flat, smooth 2-by-1 block to the top of the double hinge unit at the end of the 2-by-10 to form the foot or landing of the slide.

    • 5

Attach the hinge of a seven-rung ladder piece to the hinge on the left end of the slide. Connect the unattached end of the ladder to the open hinge on the 1-by-2 hinged block unit you created and placed at the far left middle of the 8-by-16 baseboard. Press the foot of the slide into the middle of the baseboard, three rows in from the right edge.
