How to Make a Puppet Whose Head & Arms Move

Everyone loves a puppet, as shown by the popularity of such puppets as Pinocchio and the Muppets. Used for entertainment, they are especially popular with children. With only a few steps, you can have your own homemade puppet to make your newborn smile or give your 3 year old something to do on a car trip. This can even be used as a project at birthday parties giving kids a puppet to take home as a favor.

Instructions

    • 1

Using the seam ripper, tear a seam on the stuffed animal. If it is laying down, you will want to open the stomach. If it is sitting, open the seam on the rear.

    • 2

Pull the stuffing out of the animal so that it is empty. If the head looks a little empty, you may want to leave a small amount there.

    • 3

Rip out the seam in the middle of the animal's mouth.

    • 4

Cut a felt circle that will cover the hole created by opening the mouth.

    • 5

Turn the animal inside out and sew the felt into place over the mouth.
