Geotrax Track Ideas

GeoTrax, by Fisher-Price, is designed to let children run their own trains and build their own track layout. The plastic pieces are easy to put together and make it nearly impossible to derail a train. There are several different kits available, each with different track pieces. These kits can be combined to create your own larger and unique layout. Starting with a basic plan from one of the available kits will make expanding easier.
  1. Triple Loop

    • The triple loop layout gives your train three different loops to go through. The main loop in the center is an oval shape and the two outer loops are smaller circles. Three switch tracks make it possible to mix up which way the trains go through the loops. To create this layout you will need eight curve tracks, two T-tracks, two specialty switch tracks from the Grand Central Station kit, two left switch tracks, and one six-inch straight track.

    Oval with Loop Around

    • This layout has a basic oval in the center with track extending off the left side, running out and around the oval and re-connecting on the right side. It makes a plain oval a little more interesting, but keeps the layout simple. To create this layout you will need two T-tracks, eight straight tracks, seven curve tracks and two half tracks. You can add any buildings you already have to make a village or town.

    Crash Track

    • This track has two ovals inside of each other with a little loop off the side. The layout switches between the two ovals, making it possible to crash trains if you have more than one running at a time. To create this layout you will need eight curve tracks, two left switch tracks, two specialty switch tracks from the Grand Central Station kit, two three-inch straight tracks, 11 six-inch straight tracks and one cross track.

    Rounded Square with Bridge

    • This layout has a rounded square in the center, with track coming off one side leading up to a bridge. The bridge takes your train up and over the square, coming back down into the center of the square. Creating this layout requires nine curve tracks, one left switch track, eight straight tracks, one T-track, one right switch track, four half tracks, one cross track, 10 stanchions and three guardrails.
