Since the popularity of the yo-yo spins similarly up and down, various types of modern yo-yo designs have emerged to suit the variety of tricks possible. Ball bearing yo-yos are designed to be taken apart for light cleaning and maintenance to enhance performance and tricks.

     Hold each side of the ball bearing yo-yo in each hand.

     Gently twist the left side counter-clockwise to take apart the yo-yo. Some resistance is to be expected out of newer yo-yos.

   • 3

     Pull apart the sides after twisting to clean or lubricate the ball bearings inside the yo-yo.

   • 4

     Align the parts together and twist the right side clockwise to secure the yo-yo together.
