Travel Use
Glow sticks are good to have on hand when traveling. If you are a parent with small children and intend to visit laser or light shows, get several glow stick bracelets and necklaces beforehand. When your children see the vendors selling the same items at a much higher price, they will want them. Instead, take out the glow stick items you already purchased. Also, these glow sticks help you keep track of your children in the dark. Back at the hotel, place a glow stick near or in the bathroom. When someone needs to get up and go to the bathroom at night, they won't need to turn on a light to see.
Home and Auto Use
Keep glow sticks in the car in case of emergency. If you have a flat tire at night, the glow sticks will help provide some light and also make you more visible to passing traffic. You can also wear glow sticks to increase your visibility, in case you have to walk in the dark.
Parents with children who sometimes have nightmares and are afraid of the dark can crack a glow stick for the child and set it beside their bed for an impromptu night light.
Store your glow sticks in the freezer to preserve their fuel longer and microwave them for ten seconds to reactivate the light. Don't leave the glow stick in for more than that or you risk rupturing the plastic.
Safety Tips

Never ingest the fluid inside a glow stick. The chemicals in glow sticks are usually non-toxic, but can cause harm if swallowed. The glass inside the glow stick can also harm you if swallowed.
