How to Build a LEGO Bird

Just as the old saying goes that there are many ways to skin a cat, there are multiple methods for building a bird out of LEGO blocks. LEGO are brightly colored building blocks, which allow children and adults to create everything from simple bird figures to complex Batman and Robin vehicles and cityscapes. If you are new to LEGO, or the parent of a young child who is showing an interest in building things, fuel your imagination and LEGO construction skills with a simple mini-bird building project.

Things You'll Need

  • 2, 1-by-1 blue triangle LEGO blocks
  • 1, 1-by-1 black square LEGO block
  • 3, 1-by-1 yellow square LEGO blocks with protruding conical shapes off one side
  • 1, four-sided white LEGO cube block
  • 1, 1-by-1 red square LEGO block with claw grip attachment off one side
  • 1 thin red cylindrical pointer LEGO cone

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the black 1-by-1 LEGO block to the right side of the four-sided white LEGO cube block. Attach the 1-by-1 red LEGO block to the bottom of the white cube block so that the claw grip attachment faces left.

    • 2

Stand the structure on the red block piece with the black covered side facing left. Attach one 1-by-1 blue triangle LEGO block to the right side of the white cube, opposite the black 1-by-1 square. Attach one 1-by-1 yellow conical LEGO block to the remaining exposed sides of the white cube block so that the cones point down and toward the blue triangle covered side.

    • 3

Attach the third yellow, 1-by-1 conical piece to the top of the white cube with the cone facing the black covered side of the white cube. Attach the remaining blue triangle piece to the top of the yellow cone piece you just placed to give the appearance of a head on top of a beak.

    • 4

Finish the bird by attaching the thin red, cylindrical pointer piece to the back of the bird, between the back blue triangle piece and the bottom red claw grip piece. Secure the base of the red cylindrical piece into the red claw piece at the bottom of the bird, which will form its tail.
