Leapster Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting your Leapster problems can help you save time spent on the phone with technical support. The Leapster Learning System for children may experience occasional problems you can resolve at home. Changing the batteries or cleaning the battery contacts may be an option if your Leapster is not turning on or slowly responding. You can also calibrate the system to work with its stylus pen if selected items are not chosen.

Instructions

  1. Replace Batteries

    • 1

      Remove the battery compartment cover using a screwdriver. and slide out the battery tray. Insert 4 AA batteries and replace the tray and battery compartment. Turn on the Leapster.

      Slide out the battery tray and insert 4 new AA batteries.

    • 3

      Replace the tray and battery compartment. Turn on the Leapster.

    Clean Battery Contacts

    • 4

      Remove the battery compartment cover using a screwdriver.

    • 5

      Remove the batteries and use a pencil eraser to clean the contacts.

    • 6

      Reinsert the batteries and replace the battery compartment cover. Power on the Leapster.

    Calibrate the Leapster

    • 7

      Turn off the Leapster and remove the game cartridge.

    • 8

      Press the "Power" button and wait for the "Game Selection Screen" to load.

    • 9

      Press the "B," "Hint" and "Home" buttons at the same time. Do not continue to hold on to the buttons.

    • 10

      Press the "A" button when prompted, then touch each crosshair on the screen to calibrate the Leapster.
