How to Make Slime Putty

Slime putty is a popular children's toy that is sold under various names that incorporate words like ooze, mud and goop. Slime putty is a gel-like substance that makes funny sounds when you squish it. The brightly colored goop or ooze will take the shape of any container that it is put in. Make your own slime putty toy with a mixture of borax and white craft glue, and color it with green neon food coloring.

Things You'll Need

2 mixing bowls
Borax, 1 tbsp.
Spoon
White school glue with 5 percent poly vinyl alcohol
Zip top plastic bag
Green food coloring
Plastic air-tight container for storage.

Instructions

  Place 1 cup water and 1 tbsp. of borax into the mixing bowl. Stir thoroughly with a spoon to completely dissolve the borax into the water.

  Place 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup white school glue into another mixing bowl and stir until completely mixed.

  Place 1/2 cup of the borax/water solution and all of the glue solution into a zip top plastic bag. Seal the bag, then shake the bag to mix the ingredients together.

  Add four drops of green food coloring to the mixture. Shake the bag to mix the food coloring into the slime putty.

  Place the slime putty in a plastic air tight container for storage.
