Design Your Own Night Light
The Crayola glow dome is designed to project the images with light in a dark space. You can take advantage of this feature and use it as a night light. Let your child draw designs and color the glow dome however he wants. Basic stars are a great choice for bed time illumination. Once he's created his artwork he can turn the glow dome on right before he gets into bed. One nice feature of this night light is that he can change the design anytime he wants.
Learn and Create Solar System
You can use the Crayola glow dome as an educational tool. Talk about the solar system and how the planets revolve around the sun. Have your child draw each of the planets in order on the dome part and the sun on the middle panel. Turn the glow dome on and watch as the planets circle the sun. For older, school-aged children you can make it more complex by doing the planets to scale.
Moving Story Art
Art can tell stories without words and the fact that the glow dome moves gives children a whole new way to bring their tales to life. If your child is familiar with comics they may not need any guidance in creating a story that tells itself as the picture moves. For children who aren't familiar with the art style you can help them draw each part of the story in a separate section of the glow dome in order so that the story scrolls across the walls and ceiling.
