Turn your Chirpy-Chi upside down with the base facing up. Insert a small screwdriver into the screw in the battery compartment door. Turn the screw counterclockwise to loosen it and pull it straight up and out of the door. Pull the door straight up and off.

    • 2

Insert 3 AAA batteries in the correct polarity follow the positive and negative symbols in the battery compartment. Replace the door, insert the screw and tighten it clockwise with a small screwdriver. The toy will start moving as soon as the batteries are inserted.

    • 3

Slowly pass your hand over the two holes in Chirpy-Chi's beak when he stops moving. This activates the light sensor as soon as you move your hand so he will respond.

    • 5

Press the hair on top of the toy's head to activate the touch sensor when he is motionless. Press the hair from 1 to 5 times for a different response each time.

    • 6

Wave the corn toy over Chirpy-Chi's beak and he will respond with a feeding motion.

    • 7

Listen to a particular song by holding your hand completely over the beak and eyes, then pressing the hair down 5 times quickly. You will hear 3 beeps. Press the hair down one to eight times for eight different songs.

    • 8

Press the hair on the toy's head to wake him up if he is sleeping.

    • 9

Place two Chirpy-Chi's or Robo-Chi pets on a surface about 6 to 12 inches apart and press their touch sensors. Each toy will come to life and interact with each other.
