Start Simple
When you first go to clean your pony, try using water and a gentle soap product to remove dirt and debris. You can use a soft-bristled brush to scrub the pony. Be careful if the pony has glitter or any kind of paint or design that could flake, fade or rub off. You may want to use a soft sponge to clean delicate areas of the ponies. Avoid scrubbing fragile symbols and designs unless absolutely necessary.
Mane and Tail Care
My Little Ponies have long manes and tails in a variety of colors. You should regularly gently brush the mane and tail to keep them from tangling. Do not pull the mane and tail too hard or they may be damaged. Hair can be conditioned with a gentle conditioning product. In some cases, the washer that holds the tail on the inside of the tail may begin to rust and cause tail rust. Mild bleaching may be necessary to remove tail rust. However, bleaching and whitening may damage some ponies.
Submerging Ponies
Soaking ponies in warm water may be necessary in order to remove embedded or deep-set dirt. Soaking ponies is a good way to clean them, though you should be careful not to squeeze the ponies while they are underwater. Ponies are hollow, and squeezing them can cause them to suck in water, which will lead to mold.
Bleaching
You may want to bleach a pony with mold or yellowing. Be careful not to use more than a capful of bleach per gallon or leave a pony sitting in bleach water for more than a couple of minutes. Bleach may damage ponies if left on too long or if a pony is inclined to fade.
