How to Revive Play-Doh

Kids of all ages love molding Play-Doh into shapes, characters and food. However, everyone leaves a chunk of Play-Doh out once in awhile, and once exposed to air, the clay dries out fairly quickly and becomes hard to play with. Don't toss out that old, dry Play-Doh yet. The clay can be easily restored to its former glory with a few simple ideas.

Instructions

  1. Steam

    • 1

Boil water in a teapot or sauce pan.

    • 2

Grab the Play-Doh and place it into the steam to let the moisture hit it.

    • 3

Knead the Play-Doh until it is restored. Repeat the steaming if necessary until the Play-Doh is malleable again.

    Water

    • 4

Lay the Play-Doh on a work surface.

    • 5

Add water to the clay, one drop at a time. Knead the water into the clay with your hands.

    • 6

Add water in small amounts until the Play-Doh has been restored.

    Container

    • 7

Drip enough water onto a paper towel to make it slightly damp but not soaking wet.

    • 8

Put the Play-Doh in the paper towel and wrap it up.

    • 9

Place the wrapped Play-Doh into a plastic container and let it sit that way overnight.
