Classic board games, such as Chutes and Ladders and Sorry, teach math and turn-taking. Scrabble Junior is good for learning vocabulary. Uno is a card game that also improves the skills of a six-year old.
Books
Many six-year old girls are reading on their own or are on the verge of doing so. Choose a chapter book or classic book with illustrations as a gift for a six-year old. "Little Bear" is a classic chapter book series about a young bear and his mother. "The Night Fairy" is a story about a young fairy and friendship. The 2010 Newbery Medal Winner, "Moon Over Manifest," is about a girl during the Great Depression.
