How to Make a Small Amount of Flubber

Flubber is a blob of putty popularized by the Disney film of the same name. Though it is impossible to create Flubber with the magical properties depicted in the film, it's easy to make your own play putty that looks like Flubber and stretches, bounces and changes shape when manipulated. Though commercial play putty is available at most toy stores, you can make your own with ordinary household materials.

Things You'll Need

White glue
Food coloring
Borax
Large container
Small container
Tray
Airtight container

Instructions

  In a large container, mix 1 1/2 cups warm water with 2 cups of white glue. Add a few drops of food coloring if you want to color your Flubber, and mix until well combined.

  In a small container, combine 1 1/3 cups warm water with 3 tsp. Borax. Stir until well combined.

  Pour the small container's contents into the large container. Flip the mixture around to combine the two mixtures, then lift your Flubber and let excess liquid drain off.

  Transfer your Flubber to a tray. Since it will be sticky initially, let it sit for a few minutes before playing with it.

  Store your Flubber in an airtight container when not in use.
