Easy Bake Oven General Operating Instructions

The iconic Easy-Bake Oven has provided children with a safe way to bake cookies and cakes since its invention in 1963. In 2006, the Easy-Bake Oven was even inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame. Some incarnations of the Easy-Bake Oven in the 1990s contained actual heating elements rather than a traditional light bulb. That was changed due to safety concerns. As of January 2011, the only models available used an incandescent bulb.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash the warming cups, pans, and utensils with soap and water and dry them thoroughly before each use.

    • 2

Turn the unplugged oven around and use a screwdriver to remove the four screws from the door on the back. This is the door to the light bulb housing.

    • 3

Screw one 100-watt standard or frosted light bulb into the socket.

    • 4

Insert the light bulb, now attached to the door of the compartment, through the hole on the back of the unit until the door fits back over the opening. Tighten the four screws to secure the door.

    • 5

Place the oven on a level surface and plug it in.

    • 6

Turn the oven on and let it preheat for 15 minutes.

    • 7

Prepare a recipe (some recipes are included with the oven). Put the baking pan in the baking slot on the left side of the machine.

    • 8

Use the small end of the pan tool to push the baking pan into the oven until the arrow on the pusher tool lines up with the baking slot. The metal doors inside the oven must be closed.

    • 9

Bake the recipe for the length of time specified in the instructions.

    • 10

Insert the pusher end of the pan tool into the baking slot and push the baking tray into the cooling chamber of the oven.

    • 11

Turn the pan tool around to the wider, or holder end. Slip it around the baking pan and under the ridge of the pan. Lift the baking pan out of the cooling chamber on the right side of the oven.

    • 12

Unplug the oven and allow it to cool. After 30 minutes, or when the oven is cool to the touch, use a sponge or paper towels with soap and water to wipe down the oven to remove any batter residue. Keep the oven unplugged when it is not in use.
