How to Replace Butterscotch's Batteries

FurReal Friends Butterscotch Pony, manufactured by Hasbro, is a life-like mechanical pony, designed for children four to 10 years old. The pony is powered by six D batteries, which allow the pony to make neighing noises, moves its head, blink, swish its tail, and chew on fake carrots. If the pony begins to slow down or won't move at all, the batteries are dying or dead and should be replaced.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the Butterscotch pony on its side so you can easily access its stomach.

    • 2

Pull the Velcro seam along the pony's stomach apart, to expose the battery housing unit. Slide the power switch, located on the battery box to the "Off" position.

    • 3

Loosen the screw on the battery box using a Philips-head screwdriver. The screw only loosens; it cannot be removed. Once loosened, slide the battery box toward the rear end of the pony, until the box is completely removed.

    • 4

Flip the box over to expose the batteries. Lift the old batteries out of the battery housing unit and discard of them. Insert six new D batteries into the battery housing unit, following the polarity (+/-) markings for proper installation.

    • 5

Slide the battery box back onto Butterscotch. Tighten the screw to lock the box in place. Slide the power switch to the "On" position. Close the Velcro and stand the pony upright.
