The YOUniverse Time Lock Safe must have been one of those wonderful ideas that come along to some inventor once in a lifetime. There is nothing more exciting to a youngster than keeping secrets and proclaiming ownership of objects. Adolescents often move on to keeping secrets in diaries for which YOUniverse also provided the ultimate in security. The Time Lock Safe and the Time Lock Diary were expected to provide privacy, and apparently both performed well for some buyers, but they have disappeared from the market after a number of complaints.

Hold down the time-set button which should erase the previously set time. Once erased, reset the time for at least 24 hours. At that time, the safe or diary will open.

Press "Unlatch" on the back of the safe. This is supposed to open the time lock quickly.

Pry the safe or diary open with a screwdriver. Take care not to let the tool slip. This will destroy the locks.

Break the safe or diary with a hammer to destroy the plastic parts inside. Do not attempt to reconstruct the mechanism.
