How to Build a Second Story Onto a Block House

Building blocks can create structures such as castles, ramps and houses by mixing and matching the different shapes and stacking them on top of one another. When you create a block house you can opt for a single-story home or build a second story on top of the first provided you have created a solid foundation below. After creating a second story, you can create a third story or a roof using the same method.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Place four long, rectangular blocks upright so they are perpendicular to the table. Arrange the blocks so they form the four corners of a square. Treat these blocks as the pillars for your house.

    • 2

Add two short, rectangular blocks horizontally next to the opposite sides of each pillar. These blocks will act as support for the pillars.

    • 3

Fill the space between each pillar with rectangular and square blocks to form the walls of the first story of the house. Leave one side open so you can access the interior of the first floor.

    • 4

Place one long, rectangular block horizontally on top of the left two pillars. Each end of the long block should rest on one of the pillars. Place another long, rectangular block across the right two pillars.

    • 5

Arrange one long, rectangular block across the top two pillars. The block will rest on the rectangular blocks that extend across the left and right pillars.

    • 6

Place another long, rectangular block adjacent to the first. Continue placing blocks adjacent to the previous block to create the second story of the house.
