How to Take Apart a Furby

Furbies emit electronic noises. They can talk in both English and their own language, Furbish. While some people may never tire of the toys, others may become disenchanted with the noises. Turning off the Furby is a simple way to make the noises stop. Or you could take the toy apart and explore its innards. A quick way to take apart a Furby is to simply bash it with a hard, heavy object. If you would prefer to keep the Furby's parts intact, consider performing a Furby autopsy.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the screws on the battery compartment cover with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the cover and take out the batteries. Leave the cover off, since you are taking apart the Furby.

    • 2

Locate the stitches beneath the tail. You may need to push the fur around to find them. Snip the stitches with a pair of sharp scissors.

    • 3

Locate the cable tie around the Furby's base, which should become exposed after cutting the stitches. Cut the cable tie to release the "skin."

    • 4

Lower the Furby's ears. Fold the skin inside the ears so that it is now inside out. Locate the stitching that attaches the ear skin to the hard plastic. Cut the stitching to release the skin. Pull the ear skin over the ears to remove it.

    • 5

Insert a paint scraper or other thin, flat tool between the glue and the facial plastic. Work the tool back and forth to loosen and remove the glue from the plastic. It will likely come off in one piece. If you have trouble lifting it up, snip part of the glue with the scissors. Removing the glue exposes the sensors, mouth and eyes.

    • 6

Unscrew the screws that hold together the two large pieces of the Furby's body using the Phillips screwdriver. Gently pull apart the body into two halves.

    • 7

Locate the microphone in one of the halves of the Furby's body. Pull it out gently to remove it.
