Fingerprint Powder
Put a small amount of powdered starch into one dish.
Light candle and hold second dish in the flame. The candle will create soot on the dish.
Use the knife to scrape the soot off the second dish and put it on the dish with the starch. Continue putting the second dish in the flame and scraping off the soot until you have an even amount of starch and soot in the first dish. Mix the soot and starch together. You now have fingerprint powder.
Use paintbrush to thoroughly cover the surface you want to dust for fingerprints with the fingerprint powder.
Blow off any excess powder. The fingerprint will be revealed.
To collect the fingerprint, place a piece of clear tape on top of it and peel it back. The fingerprint will be transferred to the tape. Place tape on a clear card and the fingerprint will be preserved.
Book Safe
Open your hardcover book and place rubber band around the front cover and first 20 pages to hold them out of your way.
Use ruler and pencil to measure out and draw a rectangle on the book page, leaving a 1/2-inch border from the outside edges.
Starting from the back of the book, use the craft glue and sponge brush to glue the pages and the back cover of the book together. Be sure to only glue around the outside edges of each page. Glue all pages until you reach the page which has the rectangle you drew on it, and glue it down as well. Place a heavy object on top of the book and allow glue to dry.
Use craft knife to cut out rectangle from the pages of the book. Pressing hard with the knife will allow you to cut through more than one page at a time. Continue cutting until you reach the back cover of the book. Do not cut through back cover.
Place items you want hidden inside cavity and close the book. This safe is best concealed when placed on a bookshelf with other similar looking books where it won&'t draw attention.
Tube Messaging
Take the tube from a roll of paper towels and wind adding machine paper all the way around it. Secure paper in place with rubber bands.
Hold the tube horizontally and write secret message across the paper. Remove rubber bands and paper from tube. Unrolling the paper from the tube makes your message appear scrambled when the paper is lying flat.
Give paper with secret message on it to whom it was intended. Have the message recipient wrap the paper around the same sized tube as it was written on. Your secret message will now be revealed.
