Things You'll Need
Instructions
Choose a strong, sturdy branch to hang the swing from. The branch should measure at least 8 inches in diameter.
Drill a 5/8-inch hole vertically through the branch with a power drill. The hole should be placed 3 feet along the branch, in the direction away from the trunk.
Make a second hole further along the branch so that the 2 holes are as far apart as the width of the swing. For example, for a 2-foot wide swing, make the second hole 2 feet away from the first one.
Insert a 5/8-inch eyebolt into the first hole, with the eye in the underside of the branch. The threaded end of the bolt should extend out of the top of the branch.
Place a washer onto the end of the bolt so it is resting on the top of the branch. Secure the washer in place by tightening 2 nuts with a wrench on the threads of the bolt. Make sure the eye of the bolt is pushed firmly into the branch when the nuts are tightened.
Put a bolt in the second hole in the same way as you did for the first.
Slip the ropes attached to the swing through the eyebolts until the swing hangs at the height you want it to.
Make 3 tight knots right below each eyebolt to secure the rope.
