Tricks & Tips for Tech Deck

Tech Decks are miniature skate boards meant to be used with the fingers. They mimic the style and tricks of a regular skate board. Although many people simply collect these tiny skateboards, others enjoy learning how to do tricks with them. The appeal is obvious to the avid skateboard fan. The tech deck may entice people into skateboarding who would otherwise never try it.
  1. Shove It

    • One of the most basic of tricks is called the "shove it". This trick involves spinning the board horizontally beneath your fingers (or feet on a real board) and landing back on the board while maintaining control. Start with your middle finger in the center of the board and your index finger on the tail to begin the maneuver. Use your index finger to gently flick the tail of the board toward you while lifting your middle finger. This should cause the board to spin 180 degrees and you can then land on it. Don't flick the board too hard or the board will skitter away.

    The Ollie

    • A basic jump, called the ollie, can be difficult to master. However, if skateboarders master the ollie, it opens up a whole new world of possible combination tricks. To attempt the trick, start with your index finger on the tail of the board and your middle finger on the middle of the board. Roll the board forward for a bit of momentum and kick the tail up with your index finger. While the board is in the air, slide your middle finger to the opposite tail to level it.

    Kick Flip

    • Try the kick flip next. It is quite similar to the ollie. Once the board is in the air, slide your middle finger forward to level the board while simultaneously sliding it off the board. You also have to move your index finger out of the way. The pressure of your middle finger should cause the board the spin around longitudinally. Land the flip by waiting for a full rotation and then catch the top of the board with your fingers to bring it back to the table.
