Dora Games for Ages 3 to 5

Dora the Explorer is more than just a cartoon. In the span of a few short years, she has become an icon for toddlers and grade school children for her applications of learning based toys and games. Besides console gaming, she has an endless selection of games available for your computer and though Leapfrog and online.
  1. PC

    • Dora the Explorer has a number of games to choose from for your computer, including: ̶0;Backpack Adventure,̶1; ̶0;Lost City Adventure̶1; and ̶0;Lost City Adventure 2.̶1; The games are targeted at a young audience and are almost entirely learning based, where children have to use their math and language skills to solve puzzles to advance throughout the game. These games would probably be better for 4 to 5 year olds since younger toddlers might have trouble navigating using the mouse.

In ̶0;Lost City Adventure,̶1; Dora̵7;s special teddy bear has gone missing and she has to go to the lost city, where all lost things go, to retrieve it solving math puzzles and learning Spanish words along the way. Dora̵7;s ̶0;Backpack Adventure̶1; teaches basic thinking skills and computer skills and would be a better choice for three-year olds.

    Leap Frog

    • Leap Frog makes a number of Dora games for both their Leapster and Clickstart systems. The Clickstart is a bulkier system with larger buttons, appropriate for kids 3 to 6, while the Leapster looks more like a classic hand-held system and is more suitable for children ages 4 to 8. Both systems have a large assortment of Dora the Explorer learning games like ̶0;Wildlife Rescue,̶1; ̶0;Dora̵7;s Camping Adventure,̶1; ̶0;Dora Goes to School,̶1; and games featuring other Dora characters like Diego in ̶0;Go Diego Go!̶1; and ̶0;Go Diego Go: Animal Rescue.̶1; Whatever the age group, Leap Frog has a game to help aid your youngster's learning skills.

    Online

    • The Nickelodeon website, NickJr.com, has a whole section devoted to Dora the Explorer games. Within the website you can choose to search exclusively Dora the Explorer games, of which there are currently 49 games to choose from. You can further select games by age ranges 2 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 5 and 5 to 6, choosing games that match your child̵7;s age and ability. The games focus on advancing computer and knowledge skills and encourage learning, and best of all they̵7;re free to play.

    Jakks TV Game

    • If you don̵7;t have a computer, or you don̵7;t want your youngsters reconfiguring it for you, Jakks makes a stand-alone Dora the Explorer game that simply plugs into your television and requires four AA batteries. The bright-colored game is built in to the controller and looks like a Dora-themed Atari joystick, which some younger players might find frustrating to use. This game would be more suitable for an audience of age 5 or older, but it is a great alternative to some of the other computer games available.
