Toys for Infants from Birth to 3 Months
As your infant's vision is still developing, she will like looking at a mobile above her crib and one above her changing table, especially those with bright colors or high contrast patterns. Wrist rattles stimulate your baby's curiosity and hand-eye coordination. Rattles attached to an infant's hand or foot are a good idea because she is not yet able to grab or hold any toys.
Toys for Infants from 3 to 6 Months
When infants start to grab just about anything in their reach, ideal toys include rattles, squeak and squeeze toys and those with multiple textures. Stuffed animals are also fun. Infants at that stage will enjoy simple picture books, ideally with things to feel and touch or a plastic version that can go in the bathtub.
An unbreakable mirror in your infant's crib will also entice him. Play mats with colors, sounds and various toys will keep your infant occupied for a long time.
Toys for Infants from 6 to 9 Months
As babies start to get more mobile, they enjoy dropping things and taking them out of boxes, drawers and so on. Anything they can push will be especially interesting as they begin walking. Some infants at this age already enjoy building things with large soft blocks or wooden cubes. Stacking rings can encourage motor skills.
Toys for Infants from 9 to 12 Months
As babies enjoy pulling themselves up and are beginning to walk, they develop their fine motor skills more and more. Encourage walking and other motor skills with pull toys, and fine motor skills with a bead maze.
Most kids enjoy books. Those with simple illustrations and photographs of real objects or people are good choices for 1-year-olds. Some infants might already enjoy drawing with washable markers or crayons. A lot of girls are into dressing up with purses, hats and so on.
Toys for Infants from 12 to 18 Months
Books are a big help when your infant is learning words. She might not be able to speak yet, but her little brain stores a lot of pictures and the accompanying words. Bead mazes are great toys to train fine motor skills. Pull toys are a hit with babies who can walk.
