Caring for your Pet
Tamagotchi need care and attention from egg through the adult stages. Your interaction with the virtual pet determines what it will grow up to become. Power on the Tamagotchi Connection and wait for your pet to appear. Pets have hunger and happiness levels that determine what they want to do. Choose the feed option from the menu by pressing the A button. The B button lets you select options from the menus. The goal in feeding is to keep hunger down while avoiding overfeeding. The play option lets you increase happiness by playing mini-games with your Tamagotchi. Pick any of the listed games to have fun with your pet. The final option is called "flush." This lets you clean up after your pet and keeps it healthy. Failure to do any of these will result in a sick or dead Tamagotchi. Sick pets can be nursed back to health by regular interaction. Dead pets can only be restarted as a new egg. Press A and C simultaneously to reset your pet.
Tamagotchi Growth
Tamagotchi begin as eggs and will hatch and grow into a variety of different creatures based on how you interact with them. Overweight or underweight creatures may grow in to unhealthy variants, and unhappy creatures grow into pets that require much more play to raise happiness. The lifespan of a Tamagotchi begins with the simple egg that hatches into a baby. Baby Tamagotchi require more play and feeding to become a child. Children are big on playing and require constant flushes. Teenagers must be disciplined with the option in the menu if and when they become a problem. Adults require the least care but can die quickly if not maintained. A score is kept on the device that indicates the age, weight and name of your pet.
Connecting with Friends
Tamagotchi Connection uses an infrared communication signal to talk to other devices in the area. Select the IR icon from the menu to search for other Tamagotchi nearby. Once connected, the Tamagotchi can play, eat and trade presents. They will build a friendship level that affects the benefits they receive from this activity and their happiness. You can even breed your Tamagotchi with those of the opposite gender. To do this, get your pets to the highest friendship level. An egg will appear and each Tamagotchi will be replaced by the next generation. This allows you to play again without losing your score or having your Tamagotchi die of old age.
