How to Build an Easy Playhouse for Kids

Ready for a craft that will keep your kid happy for hours? Try building this easy playhouse. Its base is a large cardboard box, such as the kind housing a refrigerator or another appliance. The most important part of this craft is that it teaches your child the importance of creativity.

Things You'll Need

Large cardboard box Utility knife Safety scissors Art supplies, such as paint, markers, brads, construction paper, glue, scraps of cloth and glitter

Instructions

  Cut off one side of the cardboard box. Invert the box, so the missing side faces the floor.

  Cut a door in the side of the box, making sure to leave it attached along one edge. This allows it to open and close.

  Cut windows along the other sides of the box. Leave the shutters, if desired.

  With your child, paint the box the color or colors of your choice. (This step is optional for younger children.)

  Encourage your child to decorate the box. Some children might draw pictures on the box with markers, while others will cut out shapes from construction paper and glue them to the box. Encourage creativity.
