** Use existing frame for your swing **
Instead of buying a swing set, you might have something in your backyard that you can use as a frame for the swing set. If you have a patio or a gazebo, you might be able to hang the swings down from one of the external rods. You might also be able to use a large tree branch to hang a few swings. Look at what you have and be creative!
** Buy a used swing set frame **
Even if you can't find a full used swing set for cheap, you might be able to find a used swing set frame. Many times the swings have broken, but the frame itself is intact. The frame without the swings can be considerably cheaper than a used swing set fully intact.
** Get cheap swing set seats **
You can get cheap swing set seats if you are creative. First, consider buying the swing seats without the rope or chain. These can be much cheaper.
In addition, if you are handy, you can get creative with the type of seat. Seats can be made of wood, canvas or even old-fashion tires. See what supplies you have at home and make your own swing seats.
** Buy swing set rope or chains in bulk **
If you want several swing seats, you can buy the rope or chain in bulk instead of buying in small pieces. This can also lower costs.
** Consider the age and size of the child **
If you are buying a swing set for toddlers, you can get cheap toddler swing seats that will not be appropriate for older children. If you are only buying for older children, you can buy swing set seats that are not as secure. You can also use a shorter frame for younger children. By taking into account the age of the children, you can minimize your costs.
