How to Make Flubber Using Gain

There are few things more attractive to a 10-year-old boy or girl than something gooey like flubber. Flubber is a slimy silly putty. Flubber has a few other names, such as gak or slime. It is easy to concoct, and is fun to handle and to use to play jokes on unsuspecting adults.

Things You'll Need

  • 4 tsp. of Gain laundry detergent
  • Food coloring
  • 2 cups of standard Elmer's white glue
  • 2 3/4 cups of warm water

Instructions

    • 1

Mix the 2 cups white glue and 1 1/2 cups of warm water together. Stir them until they are thoroughly blended and make a pale milky liquid.

    • 2

Add your food coloring. The more you add, the brighter the color will be.

    • 3

Mix the Gain and the rest of the warm water together in a separate bowl. Use a different spoon to stir this, and make sure that the Gain and the water are thoroughly mixed.

    • 4

Combine the two bowls of fluid. They will make a light blue or purple milky mixture unless you have added food coloring. Then they will simply remain whatever color you dyed the glue and water.

    • 5

Continue stirring steadily. Do not slosh the liquid, but keep stirring in an even manner. The two liquids will become semi-solid as you stir. After 10 or 15 minutes, you should have a good yield of flubber to play with.
