How to Brush a Hannah Montana Wig Correctly

The Hannah Montana wig is a popular play item for girls from the ages of 6 to 10. Hannah Montana, the alter ego of Disney's beloved Miley Cyrus, wears a blond wig to help prevent her fans from recognizing her real-life self, a brunette. If your tiny rocker tangled her Hannah Montana wig into a rat's nest during her last concert, then you may need to step in so that the world does not learn your secret star's secret identity. Fortunately, Hannah Montana wigs are fairly easy to "groom" as long as you know what they originally looked like.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

Start with the bangs. All of Hannah Montana's hair is worn straight, which makes brushing out the wig fairly easy since there is not a lot of styling involved. Comb the bangs with the bristle brush until they lay in a flat fringe over the forehead. If you can convince the wig's owner to wear it while you style it, things will be much easier. If you cannot, you can hold the wig over your fist or even lay it flat in your lap. The bangs are relatively short and should not be too tangled. You should be able to smooth them with just the brush.

Gently untangle the longer hair. Again using just the bristle brush, start smoothing out the back hair. This is all the hair that is not bang length. Do not push the bristles into the hair, but rather run them lightly over it. Note where there are tangles and places where the bristles snag. You must be gentle because most Hannah Montana wigs are fairly cheap hairpieces, and pulling too hard will stretch the plastic weave or just yank the synthetic hair right out.

Spray the tangled portions with the water. Do not soak it, but get it fairly damp.

    • 4

Use the spiny brush to work out individual knots. Holding the hair above the knot firmly to avoid yanking the entire rat's nest out of the wig, gently comb out the tangles. Having the hair slightly damp should make this easier. Be patient, and do not succumb to the urge to yank or Hannah will be performing her next set with a bald spot.

Finish off the brushing session with detangler. If there are any knots that you cannot tame with the spray bottle, bring on the detangler. Go light on this product since the wig is not real hair and cannot be washed. You should apply it directly to the knots, and then attack them with the spiny brush until the entire wig is smooth and silky to the touch.
