How to Make a Rabbit Hand Puppet

Puppets are popular toys for children. Not only do children enjoy playing with them, but the play that children engage in with puppets is both stimulating and educational. When children create scenes and dialogue with puppets they are learning valuable lessons.

Take your children's puppet play one step further and help them make their own puppets. When children can be involved in the making of their own puppets they further benefit from the creative process.

One cute and enjoyable puppet to make is a rabbit hand puppet. With a stretchy white glove and a few other odds and ends, children can make a rabbit puppet to incorporate into their pretend play.

Things You'll Need

  • One stretchy glove (white works best)
  • Pink felt
  • Eyes
  • Pom-pom
  • Scissors

Instructions

    • 1

Draw two ovals onto the pink felt. One oval should be the length of your smallest finger and one oval should be the length of your index finger. Cut the ovals out.

    • 2

Draw a triangle for the rabbit nose onto the pink felt. Cut the triangle out.

    • 3

Put the glove onto your non-dominant hand. Hold up your index finger and smallest finger while holding down the other two fingers (think rabbit ears).

    • 4

Apply craft glue to the back of both pink ovals and affix each oval to the finger it fits.

    • 5

Apply glue to the back of the triangle and affix it with a point facing downwards onto the knuckle of your middle finger (think rabbit nose).

    • 6

Apply craft glue to the back of the eyes and affix them above each top knuckle of the middle and fourth fingers.

    • 7

Apply craft glue to the pom-pom ball and affix it onto the center of the back of your gloved hand (think rabbit tail).

    • 8

Remove the glove and allow it to dry completely before wearing and using the rabbit puppet.
