How to Make a Simple Toy Boat

Even in this age of electronics every small child loves simple wooden toys. This article will show you how to make a simple toy boat using common hand tools.

Things You'll Need

3-inch wide by 12-inch long board (3/4-inch thick) Saw Sander or sandpaper Child-safe paint Glue

  Measure and cut a 3-by-8 inch piece of board for the hull.

  Mark the center of the board on one end.

  Mark two diagonal lines 2 1/2 inches from the end you marked in the Step 2.

  Carefully saw off the corners along the lines.

  Cut two pieces of wood for the hull. Cut them 2 inches wide, and make one piece about 3 inches long and the other approximately 2 inches long.

  Using a sander, round off the corners on one end of the two small pieces and glue them together for the cabin of the boat.

  Glue the cabin to the hull.

  Paint the boat with child-safe paint if other than a natural finish is desired.
