Things You'll Need
Instructions
Select contact paper from a discount or hobby store to cover the toy box. One roll of contact paper can cover several boxes, depending on size. Be sure to get the contact paper that is self-adhesive and has a grid on the back.
Select your box. Recycled boxes from small appliances or shoes are good for this project. The box should be clean and not crumpled.
Lay a long strip of contact paper out on a table, grid side up. Do not cut the paper yet. Place the box on the paper, and using the grid, determine how much paper you need to cover the two shortest ends of the box. Cut two rectangles to cover the short ends of the toy box, with extra to go a little inside and on the bottom of the toy box.Peel the backing off the paper, and carefully cover the short ends of the toy box, overlapping the bottom and inside slightly.
Lay another long strip of contact paper out on a table, grid side up. Do not cut the paper yet. Place the box on top of the contact paper. Now, estimate how long a piece you need to cover the remaining two sides and the bottom with one strip. Add more paper to cover the insides of the box too. Use the grid lines to cut the paper to the desired length. The width of the paper should be cut to match the width of the box. Cover the remaining two sides and the bottom with one piece of paper. Peel away a few inches of backing at a time while you cover the box.
Use the same method to cover the lid.
