Instructions

    • 1

Educate yourself on the dangers of some toys from China. There have been thousands of toys recalled because of high levels of lead in the paint.

    • 2

Go online and read news articles about the recalls. Just type "Toy Recalls" into any search engine.

    • 3

Refuse to buy any toys that come from China. Make it a point to read packaging or ask store managers where their toys come from.

    • 4

Spread the word to family members, friends and community members. Talk to them about the dangers of some toys made in China.

    • 5

Shop only at stores that sell American toys. Even though there are far fewer then there used to be, most towns still have a small toy shop.

    • 6

Return to the classic toys. Buy children wooden blocks and cloth dolls. Go back to the toys you may have had as a child--toys that you know are safe.

    • 7

Find a local craftsmen who hand carves wood toys. Look in your phone book or online. Go to craft fairs, too. There are usually woodworkers with a booth.
