Instructions

    • 1

Select a large bath towel measuring at least 27 by 52 inches.

    • 2

Cut the towel in half width-wise down the middle. This leaves you with two towel pieces measuring approximately 14 by 26 inches, give or take a few inches. A standard hand towel is approximately 16 by 30 inches, so cutting a standard bath towel in half will give a rough equivalence of these measurements.

    • 3

Flip each square of towel over so that the fluffiest side is facing downward. This is the side that is most absorbent and has the most texture. Squeeze a thin line of fabric glue along all the inner edges of each square.

    • 4

Fold in the edges of all sides of the towels by a 1/4 inch. Squeeze a second line of glue down each folded edge.

    • 5

Measure and cut eight strips of border to fit along the sides of each of the new towels. For instance, each towel may need four lengths of border measuring 8 inches.

    • 6

Press the plain edge of each border to the glued side of the edges of each towel. Make sure the decorative part overlaps the edge by 1/2 inch or more. Let the hand towels dry for 10 minutes. Flipping them over shows perfectly hemmed edges with the border of your choice neatly outlining them as an embellishment.
