Things You'll Need
Instructions
WD-40 and Dish Soap
Turn the mat upside down on a thick bedding of paper towels. Make sure the mat is away from all food preparation areas and toys.
Spray the spot with WD-40 and wait five minutes. A light spray will do. Do not saturate. The WD-40 will loosen the crayon's bond to the fabric.
Flip the mat over and spray again. Wait another five minutes.
Rinse the mat with water and clean the spot with liquid dish soap. Rub until the stain is removed. You will not damage the mat by immersing it in water. If any pigment remains, clean the spot with a Magic Eraser.
Rub Alcohol On It
Pour some rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab.
Lightly rub the alcohol into the stain until it is removed. The effect of the alcohol on the mat is similar to the effect on a white cotton/polyester shirt.
Clean the mat with water (or use a little dish soap or laundry detergent) and wipe clean with a towel.
If any marks are still present, repeat Steps 1-3 again.
Magic Eraser
Dampen a magic eraser. Do not use dry and do not combine with a cleaning agent, such as detergent or soap.
Scrub the crayon stains until removed. This may take a while, but it will eventually come out. Magic Erasers are made of a porous material, which looks like styrofoam, that cleans the tiny grooves on a surface that materials cannot reach. Magic Erasers will also remove permanent marker stains from Aquadoodle mats.
Wipe clean with a dry towel.
Baking soda
Sprinkle a little baking soda on the crayon mark. Put a few drops of water on the soda and wait a couple of minutes for it to soak in.
Scrub until the stain is removed. You may have to scrub for quite a while. If any pigment remains after the wax is removed, use a Magic Eraser.
Rinse off with water and wipe clean with a towel.
Baby Wipes
Fold the baby wipe in half and lay on the stain.
Press down firmly using the palm of your hand for one minute.
Scrub the stain until the stain disappears. If any marks still remain, repeat.
