Things You'll Need
Instructions
Try purchasing a specific "eraser" designed for removing unwanted stains. Examples include Magic Eraser, Goo B Gone and Kilz. This is the easiest and least time-consuming way to erase permanent marker from the wall.
If you do not want to spend the money on a commercial remover, try applying toothpaste to the permanent marker stain. It doesn't matter if the toothpaste is flavored or not, but it should be paste, not gel. You'll have to scrub the toothpaste, using either an old toothbrush or a washcloth.
Another way to remove permanent marker from the walls is to apply any alcohol-based hand sanitizer to the stain. Simply apply and wipe off the sanitizer and the stain with a washcloth. Beware that if you apply too much hand sanitizer, you will remove the paint from the wall as well as the stain, so be sure to use the smallest amount necessary to coat the stain.
A third household cure for the permanent marker stain on the wall is to mix a solution of baking soda and water. Your solution should be half and half, so for 1 cup of water, you should have 1 cup of baking soda. This method will require the most amount of scrubbing to remove the stain.
The last step you should try to remove the permanent marker from your walls is nail polish remover. While nail polish remover will remove the stain, it is also the most likely to remove the paint from your walls.
