How to Make LEGO Bolt Action

Lego blocks can perform mechanical actions but can also be used to create shapes. You can make a bolt action Lego gun that will let you fire ̶0;bullets̶1; one after the other. You will not need any special tools, but a collection of various Lego blocks is required as is time and patience in order to complete the assembly. The ̶0;gun̶1; can be disassembled after you have enjoyed using it so that the parts can be used for another project at a later time.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a 12-tabbed block horizontally on a table. Place a four-tabbed block on the set of tabs farthest from you, counting two tabs over from the left. Place a six-tabbed block horizontally on the four-tabbed block so that two tabs overlap on each side.

    • 2

Place a five-tabbed block horizontally on the 12-tabbed block closest to the six-tabbed block. Place a one-tabbed hook block on the tab against each end of the five-tabbed block.

    • 3

Place a two-tabbed block vertically on each of the one-tabbed blocks. Place a one-tabbed block on each of the vertical two-tabbed blocks. Place a five-tabbed block horizontally between the two one-tabbed blocks.

    • 4

Place a two-tabbed angled block horizontally on the table. Insert a spring into each hole. Place the two rods against the end inside the block. Turn the blocks that you had worked on earlier so that the interior side is facing you.

    • 5

Place a 12-tabbed block horizontally on the table. Place another 12-tabbed block horizontally beneath the first. Attach the ends of a spring to the left bottom edge of one block and the left top edge of the other block. Place the blocks with the spring made earlier vertically against the top left side of the 12-tabbed blocks facing you.

    • 6

Place a four-tabbed block horizontally on top of another four-tabbed block. Place the blocks on the top of the 12-tabbed blocks so that it is lined up against the upper right edge. Place two rods through a tube block. Place the right ends of the rods into the left end of the top block. Place a gear against the assembly at the top right corner horizontally. Place a two-tabbed gear horizontally on the top of the four-tabbed block.

    • 7

Place the assembly just made so that the vertical block ends are up against the top front edge of the 12-tabbed block assembly.

    • 8

Run an end of a rubber band through one of the gears on the left and knot it. Run the other end of the rubber band through the gear to the right and knot it. Repeat this with another rubber band and the two gears beneath the first ones. Turn the bolt action gun you have made over so that the protruding end (barrel) is at the upper left edge and is facing to the left.
