How to Make a Light Cycle out of Legos

Light Cycles are the cool motorbikes deployed in the races of "Tron." They have two wheels, a narrow body that the driver sits forward in, and deadly speed. These bikes make for a great project for your Lego dioramas, whether you are a beginning Lego builder or expert. You can set up scenes from the "Tron" movies or create your own scenarios, with Light Cycles zipping passed each other at breakneck speeds or crashing and burning.

Things You'll Need

  • 2-holed brick, 1 by 4

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a peg into your treaded wheels. Use another kind of Lego wheel if you don't have the treaded kind. Make sure the wheel is taller than two bricks stacked on top of each other.

    • 2

Insert the pegs of the wheels into the holes at the opposite ends of a 1-by-10 holed brick. This brick has studs on top and depressions on the bottom as normal, but also has nine holes running horizontally through its side.

    • 3

Insert two half pegs on the second and third hole of the 1-by-10 holed brick. Insert these pegs so they stick out of the opposite side of the long brick as the wheel. Repeat this process for the seventh and eighth holes. Half pegs are half the size of regular pegs.

    • 4

Snap a 2-by-1 gridded tile to the second and third half peg. The gridded tile mimics the machinery of the Light Cycle.

    • 5

Insert a peg into the second hole of a 1-by-4 holed brick -- in other words, into the middle hole. Snap the other end of the peg into the fifth hole of the long brick on the side that has the wheels.

    • 6

Connect a 2-by-3 plate to a 1-by-4 brick at a right angle to it. The 2-by-3 plate has four unused depressions on the bottom now. Connect these depressions to the top of the 1-by-4 holed brick and the 1-by-10 holed brick. This creates a seat section in between the wheels.

    • 7

Snap a translucent red stud onto the corner of the section section. Snap a 2-by-1 flat tile to the front of the 1-by-10 holed brick. Connect a 1-by-4 flat tile to the back of the 1-by-10 holed brick. Seat your Lego driver on four of the studs on the seat section to finish your new Lego Light Cycle.
