LEGO Pieces
You'll need only simple LEGO pieces to make a bush. You'll be able to find the pieces you need in a variety of LEGO sets or in a kit of miscellaneous LEGO pieces. You can make your bush any color, although many people probably will opt to create a basic green bush. Collect any small green pieces that you can find, focusing on the 1x1 and 1x2 pieces. Angled pieces are desirable, since you can use them to give your bush a somewhat rounded appearance.
Bush Base
You'll need something on which to attach your bush. LEGO base pieces are large, flat squares or rectangles covered with rows and rows of pegs for attaching things. You'll also need a small piece to serve as the bush's stem. Make sure that the stem piece is large enough to support your finished bush. A round, thick piece with at least four pegs is sufficient.
Bush Structure
Begin making your bush by attaching the small green pieces you collected to the piece you chose to be your bush's stem. The exact arrangement of the green pieces will be entirely up to you. To give your bush an even appearance, place your pieces symmetrically on your stem. Place one piece on the edge of the stem facing outward. Use only one peg. Place another, similar piece next to it, but rotate it 90 degrees away from the first piece. Continue in this fashion to give the first layer of your bush a fanned, even appearance. Add another layer of pieces on top of the first layer. Change the direction of the angles. If the bottom layer angles away from the stem, make this second layer angle toward the center. Remember: the final bush structure is entirely up to you; there's no right or wrong way to make a LEGO bush.
Bush Details
You have several options for adding details to your bush. If you have any colored stud pieces, you can place them on any available pegs to create small "flowers." The studs are the tiny pieces that have a single peg on the top and a single recess on the bottom. A few red studs can transform your plain, green bush into a rose bush. If you have any pieces that resemble leaves or fronds, you can also add these to any available studs. Fan them out away from the center to give your bush a "leafy" look.
