6212 X-Wing Fighter Instructions

The X-wing starfighter is the ship used by the Rebel Alliance to destroy the Death Star in "Star Wars: Episode 4 -- A New Hope." The Incom T-65, as the X-wing is also known, sports four wing-mounted lasers, photon torpedoes and an on-board hyperdrive, according to technical specifications at StarWars.com. The Lego version, set No. 6212, comes with 437 pieces and six figures. Assembly is easier if you approach the project in sections.

Instructions

  Assemble six figures by attaching legs to the torso, the head and hair or helmet. The figures included are Princess Leia, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Wedge Antilles, Chewbacca and R2D2.

  Snap together the wing gearbox and hyperdrive section.

  Assemble the four wings and attach a laser at each wing tip. Snap on the X-wing's real-space engines at the base of each wing, then attach the wings to the gearbox and hyperdrive assembly.

  Attach two rubber bands to the front of the wing joints, then attach two rubber bands to the rear of the wing joints.

  Put together the main fuselage and attach the radar nose cone.

  Attach a cockpit plate on either side of the fuselage and the cockpit canopy on top of the fuselage.

  Snap the fuselage into place on the wing gearbox assembly.

  Place R2 into the socket behind the cockpit and place Luke Skywalker or another pilot inside the cockpit. Open and close the X-wing's S-foil wings by turning the wheel on the gearbox.
