How to Make a Lego Bow Tie

With the right amount of creativity, you can use Legos to build houses, vehicles, creatures, and even clothing. From belt buckles to bow ties, Lego clothing can be created as the object is at no risk of breaking from normal wear. A Lego bow tie is a perfect piece of Lego clothing, because it sits just below the chin where it is unlikely to break, and it can provide flare to any ensemble.

Instructions

    • 1

Build the central knot of the bow tie with black Legos. Start with a black two-by-eight Lego block, and place two more identical blocks on each two-by-four section of the first Lego piece.

    • 2

Continue construction upward and outward following that staggered pattern until the knot is 24 bumps wide. For this row, place two black two-by-eight blocks side by side next to each other with the other two-by-four portions of the blocks hanging off the side of the bow tie.

    • 3

Build upward from the 24 bump row, but steadily reduce the size of the rows by one Lego block for each row.

    • 4

Build a loop using the two two-by-four Lego pieces that you left protruding from the back of the knot. Create a small circular pattern in whatever fashion is most comfortable for you.

    • 5

Build two bow loops outward from the central black knot using whatever colors you like. Each bow should be 16 to 20 bumps wide at the thickest point near the knot and only four to eight bumps wide at the thinnest points at the top and bottom of the bows.

    • 6

Thread a silk tie through the loop in the back of the finished bow tie. Tie the silk tie around your neck to hold the bow tie in place.
