LEGO Crossbow Instructions

Fans of the LEGO Castle line of toys often wish to stage siege and battle scenes true to medieval warfare. One essential component of such attacks is crossbows, including ballista crossbows (larger crossbows on wheels). The LEGO Castle's Crossbow Attack set includes standard crossbows which can be held and used by your mini-figures and a large ballista crossbow which actually fires.

Instructions

    • 1

Build the base of your ballista crossbow. Begin with a brown two-by-eight base piece. Over the rear two circles, place a black one-by-two piece with cylindrical rods extending back off each side. In front of this, place a black two-by-four base piece, crosswise (so that it extends off each side of the original base piece), then a gray one-by-two base piece.

    • 2

Begin the front end. In front of the last piece placed, place crosswise a black one-by-four base piece with short rods extending off each end, followed by another gray one-by-two base piece. In front of this, place two brown single-circle standard bricks, with additional connector circles on the sides facing outward. Over the remaining two circles at the front of the original base piece, place the triangular tan piece.

    • 3

Build up the bulk of the ballista crossbow. Over the outer back circles of the black two-by-four piece, place two single-circle gray pieces with hooks extending upward. Immediately in front of these, place two single-circle black pieces, with hooks extending off the sides. In between these and extending forward, place a brown two-by-four base piece. Then, top the back four circles of this piece (and the two black hook pieces) with two gray, four-circle L pieces.

    • 4

Build up the weapons chamber. On top of the two brown standard-thickness bricks, place two blue slanted pieces, to create a V-shape. Behind these, place two smooth black l pieces, upward edge on the outside, to create a U. Behind this, use four more blue-slanted pieces to create two additional Vs.

    • 5

Construct the firing mechanism. Slide the black piece with two perpendicular holes onto the long black cylindrical rod. Insert the gray plus piece with a ball top into the available hole. Then, insert the ends of the black rod into the gray upward-facing hooks on the main construct. Then, place each end of the red rubber-band piece around one of the black hooks, making sure the center of the band is on the outside of the gray-ball assembly.

    • 6

Add the final pieces. Snap one smaller gray crossbow into place on each side of the larger ballista crossbow, using the outward-facing connector circles on the brown standard-thickness bricks. Then, snap the wheels into place on the short black rods extending outward from the sides.
