How to Build a LEGO Star Wars Spy Droid

Since the introduction of LEGO building blocks, there have been countless kits made available for LEGO enthusiasts to construct any item imaginable. One very popular theme of LEGO building is science fiction, especially with introduction of the LEGO "Star Wars" series. Although many kits are for building spaceships, several kits simply include setting pieces or small bits of architecture with mini-figures included. Among these is the Hoth Base kit, which includes a Probe Droid, a spy droids from the "Star Wars" saga. The Probe Droid is both small and simple to construct.

Instructions

  1. How to Build a LEGO Star Wars Probe Droid

    • 1

Locate the octagonal LEGO piece with two by two stubs on the top and eight small bar-like sections around the outside. The outside sections have the same diameter as a mini-figure's hand. Attach this piece to the top of a small circular piece with two by two stubs. Both of these pieces have a hole in the middle that accommodates a LEGO dowel. Repeat this step to create a second identical part made of another two by two circular piece and another two by two octagonal piece.

    • 2

Attach four small "droid arm" pieces around one of the octagonal pieces. The droid arms are small elbowed pieces with LEGO sockets on each end that resemble the hands of the mini-figures. Attach the LEGO piece without the arms to the top of the piece with the arms.

    • 3

Find two of the small LEGO pieces that are only the width and length of a single stub, with a LEGO hand-sized socket on the top that is able to attach to LEGO poles. Attach each piece to the top of a single-stub circular piece, such as the pieces used to represent money or lights. Attach the sockets of the parts to the top octagonal piece on the droid's body, so that the circular LEGO pieces are facing outwards, resembling cameras. Repeat this step with different colored circular pieces to create two lights for the droid.

    • 4

Insert the tip of a LEGO pole piece into the top part of a small LEGO dish piece, and then mount a short LEGO dowel with a plus-shaped profile into the bottom end of the LEGO pole. Place the dish end on a level surface to stand the piece upright. Slide the body of the probe droid down onto the dowel so the dowel protrudes through the holes in the center and out of the top.

    • 5

Mount a small dish piece on top of the dowel so that it sits on the top of the probe droid's body. Find a small LEGO antenna piece, which is a one by one socket piece with a tiny plastic protrusion that moves like a lever. Attach the antenna to the top of the dish piece.
