Instructions

    • 1

Draw out an initial sketch plan showing the amount of space you have available for your town and sketch in the things you want to build.

    • 2

Decide what elements you want to include in your town: buildings, waterways, parks and open spaces, roadways and figures. It will add to the realism of your town if you include elements that would be found in a real town, and arrange them in the same way they would be set out in reality. For example, industrial or shopping areas should be separate from residential areas.

    • 3

Make a more detailed plan to scale to make sure that all of your ideas will fit into the area available and that you have all the necessary sets and bricks you need to build your town.

    • 4

Set out the roads in your town using the appropriate Lego road plates.

    • 5

Add any train tracks and rivers that you want. Together with the roads, this will give you a framework for your town and help you when it comes to setting out the buildings.

    • 6

Place your buildings on their sites. Begin making each one by selecting a Lego base plate of sufficient size for your building. Build the walls with overlapping bricks, fitting windows and doors as desired. Then add the roof and place the building in its correct position in the town. Complete all the buildings in this way and confirm that you are happy with their positions before adding the rest of the town to your base units.

    • 7

Add trees, figures, vehicles and any other desired elements to your town to make the scene complete. You can always add extra scenes to your town as time goes on, in the same way that real towns grow and expand over time.
