How to Build a LEGO Remote

Legos are one of the most popular toys with children 3 years old and up. There is no limit to what a child can build with a decent Lego set. She can express any figment of her imagination by building it. Creating a Lego remote control is a way for a child to practice building things that already exist. Because a remote control is a fairly simple-looking object, it is a great place to start.

Things You'll Need

The size and shape for this step is the same as a full graham cracker.

Start with thin, black Legos. Put them in place to create a rectangle shape, similar to a normal remote control. This will be the base for your remote control.

Your Lego remote should start to look like this, without the buttons.

Build regular black Legos on top of the thin Legos in the opposite direction so the bottom layer is completely connected. For example, if you laid out the thin pieces lengthwise, build the regular black Legos width-wise. Build another layer of black Legos in the opposite direction again to create a more realistic remote shape.

You can use any colors you'd like for buttons. The finished product should look like a remote with many buttons.

Find different small Lego pieces. The best pieces for this are the small, round Lego parts in different colors. These will be buttons. The very small rectangle Lego parts will also work. Attach the buttons as seen on a regular remote control. Important buttons to keep in mind are those for the power, volume, channel and numbers.
