Assemble the minifigures. The Imperial trading post comes with two redcoat soldiers, an officer, an admiral, three general sailors and two pirates. For each, attach the torso to the legs. For the British soldiers and officers, you should then attach the shoulder decorations, followed by the backpacks. Next, for all minifigures, attach the head and hat.

Assemble the pirate rowboat. Starting from the rowboat base, build the seating, mast and sails. Don't forget the jolly roger, of course!
Build the merchant ship. Working upwards from the white base pieces, construct the ship, including the mast and sails. Don't forget the storage barrels within the ship's hull, or the money chest (complete with gold coins), which sits in the depression at the front of the ship.
Build the trading post itself. Begin with the large base piece. Before constructing the floor of the trading post, remember to include the storage in the depressed area. Detail pieces include the canon and the moveable gates of the post.
Construct the docks along the outside of the trading post. Include the ramps and ladders.
Complete the buildings of the trading post. The gatehouse should be roofed, and the inn area should be two stories tall, with ladders between the floors. The top of each building should be equipped with a hook-and-pulley system for loading and unloading freight.
Add additional details. These include the palm tree, another canon, the Imperial flag and additional barrels and money chests.
Construct the second dock and tower. Building up from the flat blue base, construct the U-shaped dock and military tower. Include railings, gates and ladder. Equip the end of the dock with its own canon.
Attach the second dock to the main trading post.
