LEGO Irrigation Controller Instructions

An irrigation controller is a device for automating irrigation, such as sprinkler systems or drip-irrigation. The device features controls for the timing, frequency and duration of irrigation; sophisticated devices also have programming to control sections of the irrigation system. Of course, in building a Lego irrigation controller, what's important is to get the look right for your model Lego scenario, rather than the functionality. Although irrigation controllers involve complicated circuitry, they look simple, which makes a model Lego irrigation controller a simple project for an expert or beginning Lego builder alike. This is a good project for your farm or home Lego dioramas.

Instructions

    • 1

Snap a black 1-by-1 round stud onto a corner stud of a 2-by-4 plate.

    • 2

Snap a red 1-by-1 round stud beside the black one on the 2-by-4 plate, starting a row of round colored studs along one of the long sides of the 2-by-4 plate.

    • 3

Snap a yellow 1-by-1 round stud beside the red stud you just connected.

    • 4

Snap a 2-by-1 controller plate at a right angle to the last colored stud you just placed. A controller plate looks like a regular 2-by-1 tile, but with special computer-control images painted on top.

    • 5

Snap a 2-by-1 green controller tile beside the last controller tile you just placed. Because irrigation controllers display data on a green LCD screen, a green controller tile mimics this feature best. A regular 2-by-1 green tile works too. The tiles differ from plates in that tiles are smooth on top, with no studs.

    • 6

Snap a 1-by-1 square white tile on top of the last remaining visible stud of the 2-by-4 plate to complete your irrigation controller.
