How to Build LEGO Power Miners

The LEGO Power Miners are a gang of hardcore underground workers looking for valuable minerals, and finding themselves face-to-face with a group of underground monsters. These guys are fighting creatures such as the Combustix monster, included with the Fire Blaster, LEGO set number 8188, which is a simple underground card that includes a flame thrower and a TNT launcher. The instructions for these are easy to follow, letting you build a Power Miners set with the pieces included in LEGO set 8188.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach the two 2-by-4 axle plates perpendicular to the underside of the 2-by-12 plate. Attach an axle that will act as the rear axle at the very back end of the plate. Attach a front axle so it is two studs from the very front end of the plate. Make sure both plates are centered so that one stud is visible on both sides.

    • 2

Insert a gray stud-ended Technic pin into a 1-by-2 brick with a side hole. Attach it to the back of the model, with the stud pin facing away from the back. Attach the two 1-by-4 bricks with a row of side-mounted studs parallel with each other, just ahead of that back brick.

    • 3

Stick a 1-by-2 brick in front of the two parallel bricks. Attach two 1-by-3 plates on the front axle, with one stud extending toward the front. Cover these plates and the center plate with a 2-by-4 brick. Attach two antenna 1-by-1 pieces to the sides of the 1-by-3, as control levers.

    • 4

Attach four 1-by-2 vented bricks to the sides of the 1-by-4 bricks. Stick them onto the model with the bigger edges meeting in the middle. Stick the exhaust plate to the back of the model. Stack two 1-by-1 round bricks on top of the exhaust, and then a 1-by-2 vent plate across the top of those pieces, to form the model's engine.

    • 5

Paste the decals onto the side of the 4-by-4 round brick, and then places this on the top of the model, over the 1-by-4 bricks. Stick the round half-globe on top of this piece.

    • 6

Place the two 1-by-2 bricks with plus-shaped holes next to each other, in front of the globe piece. Insert the six-stud rod into these holes. Attach the 120-degree connector elbow to the left side. Attach a spacer and a two-hole Technic beam to the right side. Attach the "12" decal to the Technic beam.

    • 7

Stack a 1-by-2 plate and a 1-by-2 plate with two hooks on the side onto the front of the two 1-by-2 bricks, with the hooks forward. Place both 1-by-2 curved bricks on top of these pieces, with the narrow part on top of the hook plate. Attach the two 1-by-1 angled transparent plates on top of these. Paste the gauge decal on the back of the left brick.

    • 8

Insert the hose into the mouth of the megaphone piece, and then attach the 1-by-1 cone brick to the front of this. Insert the flame piece into the cone piece. Stick this into the elbow connector, and insert the free end of the hose into the stud on the back of the model.

    • 9

Insert the gray rod into the back of a stud-ended Technic pin. Attach a 1-by-1 plate with a hook on the top to the front of this. Clip the TNT piece into the front of this, which becomes the projectile. Insert this into the Technic beam on the side.

    • 10

Attach two 1-by-1 hook plates to the top of the roll cage piece. Insert two 1-by-1 round, transparent plates into the front of a two-hole handled lamp. Make two of these pieces, and clip them into the hooks on the top of the roll cage. Attach this to the hooks on the front of the model.

    • 11

Seat the Power Miner character on the 2-by-2 space on the front of the model, and fold the roll cage down around him. Attach the wheels to the axles.
